Says Hameed was actively involved in political matters, speculating that others may have been complicit

Adviser to the prime minister and senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Rana Sanaullah, has suggested that irregularities and evidence related to the Top City housing scheme may have led to the court martial proceedings against Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed.

Reacting to the news of Faiz Hameed being taken into custody and facing a court martial, Rana Sanaullah stated on Monday, “Irregularities in the housing scheme involving Faiz Hameed must have surfaced, and further inquiries could reveal even more. We should adhere to the information provided by the ISPR.”

He emphasised that the court martial process will proceed according to military procedures. Referring to Hameed’s role in the Faizabad Dharna case, Sanaullah remarked, “I believe there is irrefutable evidence against him, and further investigations will likely uncover everything.”

Rana Sanaullah also claimed that Hameed was actively involved in political matters, speculating that others may have been complicit. “I think there were others involved; no single individual could have acted alone,” he said.

Offering his analysis, Sanaullah suggested that Faiz Hameed’s military custody likely follows the substantiation of charges against him, describing the move as a milestone in preserving the honour and respect of the Pakistan Army. He further noted that Hameed's signature was present on the agreement related to the Faizabad sit-in, where protesters were allegedly managed and placed.

The adviser also clarified that the Supreme Court's order was purely related to the housing society.
