Former T-ara member Ahreum, whose real name is Lee Ah-reum, is facing serious legal trouble after being indicted on fraud charges.
The Gwangmyeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province confirmed on August 12 that Ahreum was transferred to the prosecution at the end of July without detention.
The charges stem from allegations that she borrowed ₩37 million (approximately $28,000 USD) from three individuals, including fans and acquaintances, but failed to repay the funds.
The accusations came to light late last year when it was reported that Ahreum borrowed money under personal circumstances, involving her boyfriend, from her fans and acquaintances but did not return it.
Complaints were filed with the police between March and May, leading to an investigation.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Ahreum's former boyfriend, identified only as "A," was also involved in extorting part of the borrowed money.
While Ahreum initially denied the charges, she later confessed to acting alone in the fraud. However, her ex-boyfriend continues to deny any involvement.
Ahreum, who debuted with T-ara in July 2012 and left the group in 2013, has faced multiple legal issues recently.
These include allegations of child abuse, abandonment, neglect, and luring a minor, for which she was also transferred to the prosecution in May. Her children are currently under the care of a facility due to these ongoing legal matters.
Ahreum's recent legal troubles have also fueled speculation that the borrowed money was used for sports gambling. However, she has denied these claims, attributing the accusations to "hackers."
