The monsoon rainfall is expected to continue in Lahore and most other districts of Punjab until Monday.
The rain is set to bring pleasant weather during the rainfall but heat and humidity when it stops.
The maximum temperature in Lahore was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for monsoon rainfall in Lahore and most other districts until August 12, with strong winds and thunderstorms with rainfall in most districts of South Punjab till Sunday.
Monsoon rains are expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Sahiwal and Gujrat. Due to the risk of urban flooding, the administration is on high alert. The director general of PDMA has instructed the administration to remain vigilant and complete all necessary arrangements in advance to mitigate the potential impact of the monsoon rains.
In Lahore, intermittent rainfall continued throughout the day on Saturday, with varying amounts recorded in different areas.
According to WASA record, 42mm of rainfall was recorded on Jail Road, 23mm at the airport, 12mm in Gulberg, 4mm in Mughalpura, 14mm in Samnabad, 56mm, at Qurtaba Chowk, 2mm in Iqbal Town and 56mm at Laxmi Chowk.
The highest rainfall of 76mm was recorded in Farrukhabad.
The PDMA has directed its commissioners, DCs, WASA, irrigation department, rescue, civil defense, and other relevant departments to remain alert.
The residents were advised to follow government instructions and take precautions, such as avoiding old buildings, electric poles, and seeking safe shelter during thunderstorms.
