Adam Zampa, widely regarded as one of the best spinners in modern white-ball cricket, is eager to make his mark in Test cricket. Despite his success in limited-overs formats, Zampa has struggled to find opportunities in red-ball cricket, having played only six first-class matches since 2017, with just two of those in the past five years.

His packed schedule, which includes 99 ODIs and 87 T20Is for Australia, along with various T20 leagues around the world, has kept him away from the longer format.

Zampa previously expressed disappointment at missing out on last year's Test tour of India, where he was told he was under consideration but was ultimately overlooked in favor of Queensland's Mitchell Swepson.

Reflecting on his Test aspirations, Zampa said on a podcast, "I think, realistically, [I'm] still a chance to play Test cricket. If I was playing a lot of Shield cricket right now with the way I'm bowling, the bowler I am, think I'd be fine, I'd be doing really well. The few games I have played in the last couple of years are suggestive of that,"

Australia's Test team is led by Nathan Lyon, their premier spinner, making it uncommon for them to field two spinners in home conditions. However, with a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka scheduled for early next year, Zampa could have a chance to make his Test debut if selected. He will have the opportunity to prove himself during the upcoming Sheffield Shield matches, especially as Australia faces Pakistan in ODIs and T20Is in November.

Zampa, who has a first-class bowling average of 46.98, remains confident in his abilities.

"Even if I do get picked in the upcoming subcontinent tours, people will say, well his record is averaging 46 with the ball, it's not good enough, people will say that I'm sure, but if I do get picked I'll know that the way I feel like I'm bowling, it'll be fine," he concluded.
