Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti has announced that there are no longer any no-go areas in Balochistan, including areas such as Gwadar and Dera Bugti.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration ceremony for the issuance of computerised arms licenses, Bugti emphasised that the government's actions are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the people.
Addressing the ongoing protest by the Baloch Solidarity Committee, the chief minister noted that negotiations have been ongoing from the outset, particularly with Dr Mahrang Baloch and other leaders. He stated that the government has remained engaged and has not withdrawn from the dialogue. Bugti mentioned that he would soon update the media on the situation in Gwadar and the challenges faced in the negotiations.
Reflecting on the progress made, the Bugti recalled that in 2017, there were significant delays and corruption complaints related to the issuance of arms licenses. He assured that the current system has been reformed, with plans to digitise local and domicile systems.
Over the next five years, different categories of arms licenses will be issued under this new, streamlined process. CM Bugti stated that now masses would face no delays and difficulties in obtaining licenses.
Bugti also highlighted the government's commitment to the citizens of Chaman, revealing that passports are now being issued at the expense of the Balochistan government, easing the burden on the local population.
Regarding the current monsoon and flooding situation, the CM reported that an emergency has been declared in four affected districts due to the recent floods, with the government taking all necessary measures to assist those impacted by the disaster.
