Three seafood processing companies of Pakistan have been cleared for exporting their products to European Union, said CM's Advisor on Livestock, Fisheries and Katchi Abadis Syed Najmi Alam.
The Sindh government is likely to engage a Chinese company to clean the Krachi Fish Harbour in order to lift the ban imposed by the European Union on fish and seafood exports from Pakistan over sanitation compliance issues, he said.
Najmi Alam while presiding a high-level meeting regarding sanitation of Karachi Fish Harbour Authority, said that the provincial government is making efforts to get the ban imposed on the export of fish by the European Union (EU) removed. Hengzhou Jingjing Private Group representative Engineer Muhammad Khalid also participated in the meeting.
Najmi Alam mentioned that currently three companies, producing and exporting fish, have been declared clear while the fourth company is also set to get clearance.
He said, "We will enter into a cleaning contract with the Hengzhou Jingjing Private Group because they have most modern cleaning machinery and they have also worked with Sindh Solid Waste Management."
