LAHORE:

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Presided over by Judge Khalid Arshad confirmed the pre-arrest bails of eight accused in May 9 cases, extended the bail of former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, and dismissed the pleas of two PTI Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs).

The court was hearing multiple bail applications from former and current PTI leaders facing charges related to creating law and order disruptions, chaos, anarchy, and arson across Punjab post the arrest of Imran Khan.

During the proceedings, defense lawyers argued that the accused had no involvement in the alleged offenses. They claimed their clients were falsely implicated in these cases, which they described as fabricated and frivolous, intended to blackmail and humiliate them. They further contended that there was no substantial evidence linking their clients to the charges.

Contrary to these claims, the prosecution asserted that substantial evidence was available proving the accused's involvement in the riots. They urged the court to dismiss the bail pleas.

After considering the arguments, the judge confirmed the pre-arrest bails of eight accused and extended Fawad Chaudhry's pre-arrest bail until August 10.
