ISLAMABAD:

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has unveiled a plan to establish Pakistan's first international standard safari park in Islamabad which will provide world-class recreational facilities for the citizens.

The project has received in-principle approval from the minister, who chaired a meeting at the CDA headquarters to review proposals for the safari park's establishment.

The safari park will span 200 acres of land and will be home to a total of 5,000 animals and birds, with 2,000 animals to be introduced in the first phase.

The Interior Minister directed that the park be registered with the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums to ensure international standards are met.

Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa briefed the meeting on the project's details, following which Minister Mohsin Naqvi instructed that all issues related to the project be resolved swiftly. He emphasised that all matters should be finalised immediately, with the foundation stone of the safari park scheduled to be laid in October. He expressed hope that the safari park will boost Islamabad's tourism.
