India Amarteifio, known for her role in Netflix’s "Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story," is set to star alongside Damian Hardung from "Maxton Hall – The World Between Us" in the new coming-of-age romance film, "Into The Deep Blue” as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The film, produced by Shot of Tea, follows Nick (Hardung) and Fiona (Amarteifio), best friends who meet in group therapy and struggle to rebuild their lives after experiencing loss. The plot reveals that during a weekend trip, their deepening feelings emerge, causing tension as they contemplate cutting each other off rather than facing their emotions.
The screenplay, written by novelist Jennifer Archer, won the 2022 Nicholl Fellowship awarded by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. A novel adaptation of the film is also set to be released.
Damian Hardung currently stars in Amazon’s "Maxton Hall – The World Between Us," the platform’s biggest-ever international launch, which became the most-watched international show of all time in its first week. India Amarteifio has gained widespread recognition for her starring role in "Queen Charlotte," which has amassed over 307 million viewing hours.
"Into The Deep Blue" will be directed by Jonathan Wright, known for his work on Sony’s "Awakening The Zodiac." Aletha Shepherd and Jennifer Presser of Shot of Tea production company are serving as producers.
Jennifer Presser expressed her excitement about the project, stating, "This film is such an amazing story of grief, friendship, and growth, and I couldn’t be more excited to be working with this amazing group of talent. We are thrilled to have India and Damian bring these complex characters to life. Their raw talent is something to behold and will elevate this film to the next level."
Filming will take place in the U.K., with release details yet to be announced.
