Taylor Swift and Post Malone have emerged as frontrunners for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, securing eight nominations for their song, ‘Fortnight.’
Swift is a top contender, earning ten nominations herself, highlighting her successful year in music with the release of ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ and the continuation of her ‘Eras Tour.’
Post Malone trails closely with nine nominations, largely due to his collaboration with Swift on "Fortnight."
Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, and Ariana Grande are tied with six nominations each, while SZA and Megan Thee Stallion follow with five.
Olivia Rodrigo, Teddy Swims, and Blackpink’s Lisa are also making notable appearances with four nominations each. Benson Boone, Anitta, Dua Lipa, Tyla, Bleachers, and GloRilla each received three nods.
The VMAs will be broadcast live from UBS Arena on September 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, marking the first time the awards show will be held at this New York venue.
Fan voting is open through August 30 at vote.mtv.com, with the best new artist category allowing votes until the show airs.
Swift, a previous Video of the Year winner for "Anti-Hero" and "All Too Well: The Short Film," could become the first artist to win this category three times in a row and five times overall if she clinches the award for "Fortnight."
Post Malone’s nominations are split between his work with Swift and his solo track "I Had Some Help," featuring Morgan Wallen.
Other notable nominees include Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Charli XCX, each with two nominations. Beyoncé and Shaboozey also received one nomination each for their recent releases.
