Conor McGregor took to social media to express his frustration after former President Donald Trump named Khabib Nurmagomedov as his favourite UFC fighter during an interview with Adin Ross.

McGregor, who was defeated by Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, reacted strongly to Trump’s endorsement of the Dagestani fighter over an American, describing it as a “shocking” and “campaign-ending decision.”

In a series of tweets, McGregor criticised Trump’s choice, emphasising his ongoing rivalry with Nurmagomedov and his disapproval of the former president’s preference. The tweets highlighted McGregor’s belief that Trump’s support for Nurmagomedov would be poorly received within the UFC community.

McGregor later deleted the tweets, likely due to Trump’s significant backing from UFC president Dana White and other fighters.

UFC fighter Michael Chandler, who is set to fight McGregor upon his return, rushed to Trump’s defence, sparking a back-and-forth between the two.
