YouTuber Stephen 'Coffeezilla' Findeisen has responded to a defamation lawsuit filed by Logan Paul regarding allegations about Paul’s CryptoZoo NFT scheme. Findeisen had called CryptoZoo Paul’s “biggest scam” in a series of videos aimed at helping buyers recover their money.

Despite Paul announcing a $1.3 million refund program, Findeisen argued it would only cover 12% of losses and required recipients to “drop 100% of the case.” On June 27, 2024, Paul filed a 47-page lawsuit against Findeisen, seeking $75,000 in compensatory damages.

In a 20-minute YouTube video posted on August 5, Findeisen accused Paul of “trying to dodge accountability” and claimed Paul had “learned nothing” from CryptoZoo except “how to silence people.” He described Paul as “the biggest enemy” of his own lawsuit due to past videos where Paul praised Findeisen’s investigative work, stating, “Defamation requires actual malice and a reckless disregard for the truth.”

Findeisen suggested that Paul hadn’t sued him for the original CryptoZoo investigation but rather for two later videos and a Tweet advocating refunds for victims. He pointed out that Paul’s ongoing success with Prime had left him “richer than ever” and argued that Paul’s reputation “as a scammer” was already established before his videos.

Admitting to making “one embarrassing mistake,” Findeisen explained that he now had to fight the lawsuit using personal funds instead of relying on media insurance. He asked viewers to support him by purchasing merchandise, with 100% of profits going toward legal costs.

Findeisen also speculated on the timing of the lawsuit, noting that he had featured Paul in a video teaser six days prior and had texted Paul for comment 21 hours before the lawsuit was filed. The initial email delivering news of the lawsuit allegedly “threatened” to hold Findeisen “accountable” if he continued reporting on a new story about Liquid Marketplace. Findeisen concluded, “[Paul] can try to silence me by weaponizing the law... but I will continue to ask questions and seek refunds.”
