Jimin’s latest single, “Who,” has catapulted him to a new career milestone, surpassing his BTS bandmate Jung Kook's all-time record on the Digital Song Sales chart.
The track has achieved remarkable global success, largely due to its impressive first-week sales figures across multiple countries.
“Who” debuts at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week. According to Luminate, the single has topped Billboard’s ranking of the best-selling individual songs in the United States with 52,000 copies sold.
This achievement marks Jimin’s sixth No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart as a solo artist, excluding his numerous hits with BTS.
This new chart-topping single allows Jimin to make history by breaking his tie with Jung Kook for the most No. 1s among South Korean solo artists on this chart, as they both previously had five each. Now, Jimin leads with six.
Jimin first reached No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart in 2022 with “With You,” a collaboration with Ha Sung Woon, which held the top spot for one week in May of that year.
In 2023, he dominated the sales ranking with three No. 1 hits, significantly increasing his career total. In April, “Set Me Free, Pt. 2” and “Like Crazy” consecutively hit the top spot, with Jimin replacing himself at No. 1. A month later, he returned to the peak as a featured artist on “Angel, Pt. 1” with Kodak Black, NLE Choppa, JVKE, and Muni Long.
“Who” is Jimin’s second No. 1 of 2024 on the Digital Song Sales chart, following “Closer Than This,” which reached the top position earlier this year.
Jung Kook's record on the Digital Song Sales chart mirrors Jimin's, with hits both as a solo artist and in collaboration with others. He began his streak in 2022 and added several No. 1s in 2023. However, Jung Kook has yet to secure a No. 1 in 2024.
