Education officers decry mandatory tests, interviews

Say appointments in district authorities should be made as before

Education officers have rejected the policy of tests and interviews becoming mandatory for the appointment of Chief Executive Officers of District Education Authorities of all 43 districts, District Education Officers and Deputy District Education Officers of all 130 Tehsils.

For all 216 of these seats, aspiring education officers will be tested and then interviewed on August 8, the upcoming Thursday. These include seats of 43 Education Authorities Chief Executive Officers, 43 District Education Officers and 130 Deputy District Education Officers.

All test interviews will be held at 11.30am in 9 divisional locations of the province. Exam halls have also been announced for each of them. During the test, educational officers and candidates will be prohibited from carrying books and mobile phones into the examination centres.

Candidates who pass the test will be interviewed as in the second stage of the application process. After which the seats will be finalised. The period of the appointment will be three years long. The education officers have rejected the tests and interviews policy for appointment to the seats. They said that the performance file of every officer is available. “Appointments should be made on merit. By turning the education department into a laboratory, the education system has reached the brink of collapse.
