LAHORE:

In the drop scene of the murder case of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding member Dr Shahid Siddiqui, his son has turned out to be the murderer.

Reportedly, the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) has taken the victim’s son Qayyum Shahid into custody.

Initial investigations suggested that Qayyum was frustrated with his father over a marriage proposal. His father did not approve of the marriage.

Qayyum allegedly hatched a plan to murder his father and hired an assassin in January for Rs5 million. However, Shahid survived the attack.

According to investigators, the suspect for the second time made a deal worth Rs20 million for the murder of his father. The suspect was spotted in CCTV footage conducting reconnaissance of his father in his car.

His father had visited a bank before his death while being followed by him.

Shahid had withdrawn money from the bank and disturbed it among poor people. Witnesses said Qayyum had cried a lot while offering funeral prayers for his father. He had been present at the spot when a shooter had shot dead his father.

The victim had been murdered in a housing society when he was going towards his car after offering Friday prayers.
