First Trailer for Welcome to Derry Teases Chilling Prequel to It
The highly anticipated prequel to Stephen King’s It, titled Welcome to Derry, has dropped its first trailer, offering a glimpse into the horror that awaits fans.The teaser presents fleeting scenes of the eerie town of Derry, Maine, known for its sinister reputation in King’s universe.
Derry, the fictional town central to many of King’s stories, first appeared in his 1981 short story "The Bird and the Album" and has since been featured in several novels and short stories, including It, Insomnia, and 11/22/63. Welcome to Derry will explore this eerie setting further and fans of King’s work can’t wait!
The prequel will air as an HBO Original series on Max, consisting of nine episodes, with four directed by Andy Muschietti, who helmed the recent It films. Director Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour promises that the show will be as frightening as its predecessors with a he4avy focus on layered character development.
Despite initial reports suggesting that Bill Skarsgård would not return as Pennywise, it appears that the iconic clown will indeed make an appearance in the prequel. Fans can look forward to this chilling new addition to the It universe, set to premiere sometime in 2025.
