Karachi is expected to experience intermittent moderate rainfall today and tomorrow, with heavy rain possible in some areas.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a monsoon alert regarding the anticipated weather conditions.
A strong monsoon system is affecting Sindh, which originates from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. Light rain and drizzle are expected in Karachi on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an advisory warning of potential urban flooding in Karachi over the next two days due to continuous rainfall.
The Met Office stated that various cities in rural Sindh could also witness rainfall accompanied by strong winds by tomorrow.
Yesterday, Karachi experienced heavy rainfall overnight, with Nazimabad recording the highest precipitation of 76.5 millimetres, according to data released by PMD.
The statistics, which covered rainfall from last night until 8am today, indicated significant rainfall across various areas. Surjani Town recorded 72.4mm, while Quaidabad experienced 61mm.
Malir Halt received 54.1mm, and the Old Airport area recorded 49.4mm. Other notable rainfall measurements included Jinnah Terminal with 42.2mm, Orangi Town with 42mm, Met Complex University Road with 39.6mm, PAF Faisal Base with 37mm, and Gulshan-e-Hadeed with 35mm.
In North Karachi, 34mm of rain was recorded, followed by Ibrahim Hyderi with 13mm, Gulshan-e-Maymar with 12mm, Keamari with 7mm, PAF Masroor Base with 5mm, Korangi with 3.8mm, and DHA Phase II with 2.2mm.
The lowest rainfall was recorded in the Saddar area, with just 2mm.
The NDMA has forecasted rain in the Karachi Division until August 6, with heavy downpours potentially causing urban flooding. Authorities have been instructed to take preventive measures to mitigate the impact of the rains.
