Nine booked over false testimony

The police have registered a case against the nine people suspected of giving false testimony after receiving money from the accused in a case of kidnapping for ransom.

According to sources, Inspector Muhammad Saleem of Tarkhani police station lodged the case with the Civil Lines police, stating that he had submitted the challan in the case under Section 365A against Ali Mazhar Abbas, resident of Kamalpur, and Riyasat Ali, resident of 47GB.

The case was under trial in an anti-terrorism court.

The official alleged that witnesses Faheem Anjum, Abdul Naveed, Mushtaq, Naveed, Muhammad Mahmood and Jamaat Ali had given false testimony against the defendants in exchange for money. The police registered a case against the suspects under sections 214, 213 and 193 of the PPC.
