Attendees of Day 3 of Lollapalooza enjoyed sunny weather, with temperatures approaching a hazy 90 degrees, and were treated to an unexpected performance by Skrillex.

The California DJ, originally scheduled for a Saturday night performance, revealed an extra noon show via social media late Friday.

In his honor, the EDM-centric Perry’s stage was temporarily renamed Sonny’s for the day—after Skrillex's birth name, Sonny John Moore.

During Chicago's major annual music festival, which extended into a sold-out weekend at Grant Park, Saturday's headlining acts included the rap collaboration Future X Metro Boomin, Skrillex, Japanese pop duo Yoasobi, and rock band The Killers on the T-Mobile mainstage.

Once news of Skrillex's early show spread, fans quickly flocked to Grant Park.

As Skrillex's performance commenced, over a thousand people packed Sonny's stage, with the crowd extending to the back of the field, an area usually empty during the day's earliest concerts.

Hundreds more observed from the sidelines, finding shade among the trees.

Wearing a baseball cap and T-shirt, Skrillex delivered a house-influenced set featuring classic hits like "Cinema" and "Bangarang," along with samples from rap and Latin music.

“We were originally going to take a later train, and we immediately decided otherwise when we got the text,” said festival goer Abby Helm

On Saturday morning, Helm traveled to Chicago from Northwest Indiana with her friends Nevaeh Cort and Paige Luebke. They anticipated that the daytime set would be “crazy,” but believed Skrillex’s evening concert would probably be "even crazier."
