Unidentified men shot and killed a 65-year-old woman at the Defence Chowk in the limits of Morgah police station on Friday and managed to escape after committing the crime.

Eyewitnesses informed the police that the suspects opened fire at the deceased, identified as Azmat Ara, when she was driving the car.

After receiving information about the incident, the police promptly arrived at the scene, took custody of the victim's vehicle, and initiated an investigation.

Police said that Azmat Ara was a resident of a private housing society, adding that the motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained.

To help in the search for the absconding suspects, the police have obtained footage from CCTV cameras installed at various locations.

The body has been shifted to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.

A case will be registered upon request from the relatives of the deceased.

In a recent update, police have increased their efforts to locate the suspects, deploying additional resources and conducting neighborhood canvassing.
