LAHORE:

Dr Shahid Siddique, a founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and owner of a private hospital, was tragically murdered outside a mosque in Valentia Town after Friday prayers. The incident occurred as Dr Siddique was returning home with his son.

As they approached their car, unidentified shooters who had been lying in wait intercepted them. The assailants opened fire, reportedly discharging six bullets, four of which struck Dr. Siddique, killing him instantly. His son escaped the attack unscathed.

Upon receiving information, police officers quickly arrived at the scene and collected forensic evidence. Senior police officials, including DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, SSP Investigations Anoush Masood Chaudhry and SP OCU Aftab Phularwan, visited the crime scene.

DIG Faisal Kamran remarked that although Dr Siddique was a notable political figure, the attack, despite being a targeted killing, did not appear to be politically motivated.

The police are investigating the incident from various angles, including personal enmity and business disputes.

It has been reported that Dr Siddique had been targeted a few months prior but escaped unhurt.
