‘Plantation to help combat climate change’

Climate change poses serious threats to human lives, food security, and the environment, which can be mitigated through active public participation in tree plantation and anti-pollution campaigns, said University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan.

Speaking at a tree-planting event at the Student Facilitation Center, UAF, Dr Khan emphasized the harmful effects of factory emissions, vehicle exhaust, and other pollutants on the environment.

“We are devastating the planet with our own hands,” he remarked, underscoring the need for conscious efforts to protect the environment.

Dr Khan highlighted UAF’s status as one of the greenest universities globally, attributing it to the campus’s lush landscape, which keeps temperatures two to three degrees lower than the rest of the city.

He warned of the consequences of climate change, including melting glaciers, increased flood intensity, droughts, and other issues.

He urged students and citizens to actively participate in the planting campaign to foster a healthier environment.

The event was also attended by Principal Officer Estate Management Dr Nadeem Akbar, Incharge Gardening Wing Dr Adnan Younus and others.
