Eliot Spitzer, former NY Governor, reveals secret marriage to Roxana Girand in 2020

Former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer and Roxana Girand are now married, according to a source.

Spitzer, 65, and Girand, 53, quietly wed in 2020 after canceling their large New York wedding because of the coronavirus.

At that time, the couple notified family and friends through a message canceling the event, stating, "Reality, in the form of the dreaded COVID-19 virus, unfortunately, has intervened,”  as previously reported by Page Six.

But, “We intend — nonetheless — to get married in an appropriately small, family-only event either on the 4th of April or before. No virus will subdue us!” they said at the time.

Spitzer told Page Six that while they canceled the event on April 4 of 2020, they “married the same day,” at his Columbia County home, near Millbrook.

(The wedding went somewhat unnoticed, as Girand is still frequently referred to as Spitzer’s fiancée in media reports.)

The couple, who have been married for a while, were the talk of the town at the Millbrook Horse Trials last weekend, as reported by Page Six.

They attended the event sponsored by Barbara Tober’s Yellow Frame Farm, and an insider mentioned that the formerly controversial politician was exceptionally charming.

“He seemed happier, and much more in touch with himself. He looked comfortable, and rather charming,” the source said.

The insider added of Spitzer, “He was more relaxed and more in his own skin than ever before!” He and his wife sponsored one of the tables, we hear, and he told us it was “a beautiful event.”
