Sporadic showers bring pleasant change in weather

More rain with strong winds, thunderstorm expected

Various city areas on Wednesday received rain under the monsoon sequence, with incessant rain continuing for several hours in most part of the metropolis.

The recent monsoon system brought rain to various areas of the city between Wednesday and Thursday night. The rain varied in intensity, with some places experiencing light to moderate rain, while others received heavy showers. In the Old City area, moderate rain started in the night and continued until morning, resulting in rainwater accumulation in several low-lying areas including Gurumandir and Kashmir Road.

According to the data released by the Meteorological Department, the highest rainfall was recorded in DHA Phase-2 with 13mm of rainfall and the lowest in Saddar with 1mm.

On Thursday, the city experienced a welcome change in weather as strong winds from the southwest direction of the sea blew in, with a speed of 31 kilometres per hour. The weather remained cloudy and sunny throughout the day, making the overall weather pleasant.

Meanwhile, the Met office has issued an alert regarding a new monsoon system, which is expected to bring a series of powerful winds from the Arabian Sea, affecting Rajasthan, India, and Sindh from today, August 2. According to the alert, there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorm in Karachi between August 3 and 5. In addition to Karachi, thunderstorms are also expected to hit other parts of Sindh, including Tharparkar, Badin, Sujawal, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tandu Muhammad Khan, and Tando Allah Yar between August 3 and 5.

Furthermore, rain with strong winds and thunder may affect Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Kashmore, Larkana, and Shaheed Benazirabad.

Additionally, from August 3 to 6, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot, Nowshahro Feroze, Ghotki, Sukkar, and other areas may also experience similar weather conditions.

As per the Met office, the maximum temperature in the city on Thursday was recorded at 31.6 degrees Celsius, which is a decrease of several degrees compared to the previous day. The humidity in the air was 82%.
