Three killed in Lakki Marwat clash

LAKKI MARWAT:

At least three people have been killed and another seriously wounded when two rival groups exchanged fire at Kotka Parad Village in Lakki Marwat on Thursday.

According to the police, one group attacked their rivals and this resulted in an all-out battle. By the time the dust settled, three people lay dead and another was critically wounded.

The relatives of the deceased took the bodies and the wounded to the hospital, but no medical staff was on duty, a relative told the media.

On the hand, the MS of the hospital, Dr Rahseed Anwer, rejected the claims of the attendants of the wounded. He asserted that as many as five doctors were on duty.

Dr Anwer added that the three corpses were received by the medical facility. This clash, although of a different nature, arrives two after the end of the tribal battles in Kurram district where at least 44 people were left dead and more than 200 injured. The warring tribes in the district finally reached a ceasefire after six days of battles terrorised much of the region.

Even after the ceasefire, hostilities remained high as both seemed determined to undermine the peace process and create hurdles for each other.

For example, neither was willing to let the other take the injured from their side of the territory to hospitals of Kohat or Peshawar for the best possible treatment, local sources told The Express Tribune Peshawar office over the phone. Meanwhile, tribesmen from continued to occupy dug up trenches and erected embattlements.
