Paris Olympics: Pakistan's Kishmala Talat, Gulfam Joseph finish 14th in 10m air pistol event

Third Pakistani shooter to compete in rapid-fire pistol event on August 4

Pakistan's Kishmala Talat and Gulfam Joseph finished 14th in the mixed 10m Air Pistol team event at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre on Monday, scoring a total of 571-17x. The pair had practiced for the event on Sunday afternoon. 

This marked their third appearance at the Games, where Talat and Joseph had previously competed in the 10m women's and 10m men's air pistol events, finishing 31st and 22nd, respectively.

In the mixed team event, Turkey's Sevval Ilayda Tarhan and Yusuf Dikec topped the qualification round with a score of 582-18x, equalling the Olympic qualification record. They will compete for the gold medal against Serbia's Zorana Arunovic and Damir Mikec, who scored 581-24x. 

India's Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot, forming the India 1 team, qualified for the bronze medal match with a total of 580-20x. They will face the Republic of Korea 1 team, consisting of Jin Ye Oh and Wonho Lee, who scored 579-18x. 

According to the event rules, the top four teams from the qualification round advance further. The Gold/Silver Medal Match is contested by the top two teams, while the Bronze Medal Match features the teams in positions 3 and 4. The finals of the event will take place on July 30.

Pakistan's coach expressed optimism for a better performance in future events. Talat will participate in the rapid-fire sports pistol event on August 2, and the third Pakistani shooter, Ghulam Muhammad Bashir, will compete in the rapid-fire pistol event on August 4.
