A TikToker faced legal trouble after filming a video in a police uniform, leading to his arrest by local authorities in Lahore.

The incident unfolded after videos of the individual, identified as Hammad, went viral on social media.

Acting on the instructions of SP Cantonment Awais Shafiq, the South Cantonment police apprehended Hammad for donning an ASI-ranked police uniform while making TikTok videos.

According to SP Cantonment Awais Shafiq, Hammad had posted pictures and a video featuring songs while dressed as an ASI.

On July 9, social media platform TikTok said it took action against over 20 million videos in Pakistan in the first quarter of the year for breaching its community guidelines.

In its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for 2024’s first quarter, the platform said that approximately 93.9 per cent of videos that violated the guidelines were removed within 24 hours of posting, and the proactive removal rate for the quarter stood at 99.8pc globally.

TikTok said the report was released as part of its “continuous effort to foster a secure and positive online environment”, adding that it highlighted the platform’s “unwavering commitment to transparency, safety, and inclusivity, reflecting its dedication to building trust and ensuring a safe platform for its global community”.

Meanwhile, it said that proactive measures led to the removal of 166,997,307 videos worldwide, representing about 0.9pc of all videos uploaded on the platform.

“A substantial portion of these, 129,335,793 videos, were identified and removed through automated detection technologies, while 6,042,287 videos were reinstated upon further review.”
