Vehicle collides with truck after shifting patient to Sahiwal

A rescue official died as a result of a collision between an ambulance and a truck near the Qadirabad terminal on the National Highway.

Emergency Medical Technician Habibur Rahman died in the accident, while ambulance driver Mohammad Azhar was severely injured.

According to sources, a patient had been shifted from Okara to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital in the Rescue 1122 ambulance.

The ambulance was returning to Okara after shifting the patient when it collided with a trailer truck that was brought onto the road from the terminal in reverse gear.

As a result of the accident, Habibur Rahman died, while ambulance driver Azhar was injured.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Rescue 1122 officials reached the spot and shifted the injured and the body to a hospital.

The police also reached the spot and impounded the truck, but its driver had escaped from the spot after the accident.

Punjab Emergency Services Secretary Rizwan Naseer, expressed his condolence over the rescue worker's death and directed the divisional emergency officer to make arrangements for his burial.

The funeral prayers for the deceased were performed in his native village and he was buried in the local graveyard.

A large number of local people, including rescue personnel from Sahiwal and Okara, attended the funeral.

Provincial Minister for Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique also expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of the rescue worker.

He paid tribute to the rescue personnel who provide emergency services to the people.
