olice have registered a case and launched an investigation into the kidnapping of prominent industrialist Zulfiqar Ahmed, four days after the abduction occurred.
The incident, which took place on Mauripur Road, has left both the business community and the public in shock.
The First Information Report was filed based on a complaint from the manager of Zulfiqar Ahmed's textile mill, where he was last seen.
The plaintiff, whose identity has not been disclosed, provided a detailed account of the kidnapping.
As per the FIR, Ahmed was travelling to Clifton with a friend from his textile mill when their vehicle was intercepted by a car without a number plate on Mauripur Road.
Armed individuals forced both men into their car. After travelling some distance, the kidnappers released Ahmed's friend but took Zulfiqar Ahmed with them.
The plaintiff also mentioned that Ahmed's mobile phone has been continuously switched off since the incident.
On Thursday, the Sindh High Court issued notices to federal and provincial law officers, Sindh’s inspector general of police, and others in response to a petition seeking the recovery of Zulfiqar Ahmed.
The petitioner, Anber Zulfiqar, stated that her husband was a prominent businessman and managing director of textile manufacturing and oil companies.
According to her, Ahmed left his office on July 23 with his friend Qaiser.
During their journey to Agra Taj Colony, they were intercepted by unidentified armed men in a double-cabin vehicle and taken to an undisclosed location.
Qaiser was later released on the road.
Anber reported that the family contacted the police and other law enforcement agencies to determine Ahmed's whereabouts, but none could provide information about his arrest or detention.
The petitioner’s counsel explained that the family tried to file an FIR at the Kalri police station regarding the incident, but the case was not registered.
The court was urged to direct the police and other law enforcement agencies to produce Ahmed in court and disclose any pending cases against him.
Additionally, the petitioner requested an injunction to prevent any criminal proceedings following Ahmed's abduction and called for the registration of a case against those responsible for his unlawful detention.
