Eight killed in two separate accidents

Another 42 injured in crashes on M9 Motorway and Indus Highway

HYDERABAD:

Eight persons were killed and at least 42 injured in two separate accidents on the M9 Motorway and the Indus Highway in Jamshoro district on Friday.

Four people were killed when a speeding passenger bus heading from Hyderabad to Karachi struck a truck on the motorway and instantly overturned on the road.

The deceased included a resident of Karachi Muhammad Suhail, and Shaman Ali Kandhro, Abdul Qayum Bhutto and Ali Nawaz from Larkana.

The bus had become a crumpled mass of metal making it impossible to take out the injured people. The recuers had to use angle cutters to cut open the bus ad pull out the injured and the dead.

The accident left 17 passengers including women and children injured who were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital. Among them four are said to be in serious condition.

The dead bodies were taken to district headquarters hospital in Kotri town of Jamshoro. The Lunikot police, in whose jurisdiction the incident happened, told that the bus driver's reckless driving became the cause of the accident.

Meanwhile, in another accident on the Indus Highway near village Serai Solangi in Manjhand taluka a speeding car struck a passenger bus, leaving four persons travelling in the car dead. The deceased include 60 years old Syed Dinal Shah, his brother 55 years old Syed Sarwar Shah and their nephews Syed Hameed Shah and Syed Zainul Abideen Shah.

As many as 25 bus passengers, among them eight children, were injured in the accident. They were shifted to the LUH. The car was travelling from Jamshoro to Lucky Shah Saddar while the bus was carrying passengers from Sehwan to Hyderabad.
