There is some controversy surrounding the romance of a billionaire sunglasses heir.

Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio, a descendant of the Luxottica empire, which includes Ray-Ban, Persol, Sunglass Hut, and other luxury eyewear brands, recently got engaged to soap star Jessica Serfaty. The couple has been celebrating their engagement with appearances at events like the Met Ball and other high-profile outings.

However, Serfaty, who previously dated Ed Westwick, influencer Logan Paul, and One Direction’s Niall Horan, has accused Del Vecchio of abuse, only to retract the allegation shortly after. This has made them a hot topic in the fashion world for the wrong reasons.

Del Vecchio is the son of Leonardo Del Vecchio Sr., a Milanese businessman who passed away in 2022 with a fortune of approximately $24 billion, making him the wealthiest person in Italy. He was married three times and had six children, each reportedly inheriting several billion dollars.

Leonardo Jr., who is the chief strategy officer for Luxottica, is reportedly worth around $4 billion. He became engaged to "Days of Our Lives" actress Serfaty last year.

On Sunday, Serfaty accused Del Vecchio of hitting her in a tearful social media video.

Then on Monday she posted a message saying, “Leo and I apologize for any who were triggered or affected by yesterday’s story,” adding, “Sometimes a family can have their own arguments and these should never be made public.”

Serfaty, who has a son from her first marriage, said she would “never stay with an abusive man,” adding “which Leonardo Del Vecchio is not.” She said, “I revoke my words that were driven by anger and not in truth” and that he “will always be a companion, step father and family person to me.”
