As athletes gather for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, a notable encounter has occurred between tennis stars Carlos Alcaraz and Andy Murray. The two players met at the Olympic Village and took the opportunity to chat and take a photo together. This marks Alcaraz’s first Olympic event, while Murray is competing for the last time. Murray shared the photo on social media, captioning it: "I managed to get a photo with my favorite athlete."

Andy Murray has been an esteemed figure in British tennis, winning three Grand Slam titles and two Olympic gold medals throughout his career. The 37-year-old announced that the Paris Games would be his final tournament, stating on Instagram, “Arrived in Paris for my last ever tennis tournament @Olympics competing for (Team GB). Have been by far the most memorable weeks of my career and I’m extremely proud to get to do it one final time.”

Murray will compete in the singles on the Roland Garros courts in Paris and team up with Dan Evans for the doubles competition. Reflecting on his career, Murray expressed his love for the sport despite his physical challenges, saying, “It is hard, because I would love to keep playing but I can’t. Physically it’s just too tough now. All of the injuries have added up and like I said they haven’t been insignificant.”
