The Henley Passport Index has unveiled its 2024 rankings, naming Singapore as the holder of the world’s most powerful passport.
According to the index, Singaporeans can travel visa-free to 195 destinations, reaffirming its top spot.
In second place, the passports of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain allow visa-free access to 192 destinations.
Close behind are Austria, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Sweden, whose citizens enjoy seamless travel to 191 destinations.
The United Kingdom shares fourth place with Belgium, Denmark, New Zealand, Norway, and Switzerland, offering visa-free travel to 190 destinations.
Meanwhile, Australia and Portugal hold the fifth position, each granting access to 189 destinations.
The United States, however, has slipped to eighth place, allowing visa-free entry to 186 destinations. This marks a significant drop for the US passport in recent years.
At the bottom of the list, Afghanistan's passport ranks the weakest, with its citizens able to travel visa-free to just 26 countries.
The Henley Passport Index, co-created by London-based Henley & Partners, has tracked global travel freedom across 227 countries and territories for the past 19 years using data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
