This recommendation comes in the wake of an assassination attempt against the former president on July 13 in Pennsylvania.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that security officials have expressed concerns about the potential risks associated with large, open-air events, prompting discussions within the Trump team about alternative venues such as indoor basketball arenas to accommodate large crowds.
As a result, the Trump campaign is currently refraining from planning any extensive outdoor rallies, focusing instead on securing safer, enclosed spaces. This shift in strategy remains unofficial as neither the Trump campaign nor the Secret Service have publicly confirmed these developments.
This security caution follows the resignation of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, who stepped down amid criticism from lawmakers over the security breaches that occurred during the assassination attempt.
In her resignation letter, Cheatle acknowledged the intense scrutiny faced by the agency and accepted full responsibility for the oversight. Cheatle had been at the helm of the agency since September 2022.
