Kamala Harris, the Democrat nominee for the 2024 presidential election, has received an unexpected endorsement from British pop star Charli XCX. This support comes as Harris launches her campaign following Joe Biden's withdrawal. The vice president was announced as the new Democrat frontrunner, leading to increased donations and endorsements from celebrities like Robert De Niro, Barbra Streisand, and Lizzo.

Charli XCX expressed her support on social media, referencing her latest hit album by declaring, “Kamala IS brat.” The concept of "Brat," the title of Charli's album, represents a rebellious and hedonistic attitude. Charli explained on social media, “You’re just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes.” Her post about Harris quickly gained traction, amassing over 212,000 likes and 12 million views on Twitter as of Sunday.

Harris’s campaign swiftly embraced the endorsement, updating their background image to match Charli XCX’s album artwork. Fans have also been creating videos that combine clips of Harris speaking with songs from the album.

In response to Biden's endorsement, Harris stated, “With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above everything else”. She added, “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.”

Harris faces former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. Trump's campaign managers, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, criticized Harris, stating, “Harris will be even WORSE for the people of our Nation than Joe Biden”as reporte

Recent polls indicate Harris performs better than Biden among key demographic groups, including young people and people of color.
