SC disposes of 3,974 cases in three months

ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court has released the second quarterly performance report from December 17, 2023 to March, 31 2024.

According to the report, 5,427 cases were registered in the apex court from December 17 to March 31 and 3,974 cases were disposed of. An increase of 1,453 cases was witnessed in three months.

The report includes details of important cases disposed of during this period, and has been issued to provide public access to information, fulfilling the constitutional requirement.

During the period from December 2023 to March 2024, the Supreme Court ruled on the accountability of judges, establishing that judges cannot evade responsibility by resigning.

The apex court also addressed the issue of Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui being deprived of right to a fair trial, and issued a decision on Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto reference. It upheld the special court’s decision against Pervez Musharraf.
