PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Saturday issued fresh rains alerts.

It says that strong winds and thunderstorms coupled with heavy rain are expected in most districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from Monday to Wednesday.

More monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea will enter the upper regions of the province from July 22. There is a possibility of strong winds and thunderstorms with heavy rain in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan.

Due to rainfall, there is a risk of traffic disruption in the hilly areas of the province due to landsliding. PDMA has issued an alert to all district administrations in view of the weather conditions.

PDMA has issued instructions to district administrations to prepare in advance for any unpleasant incidents due to dust storms, strong winds, or thunderstorms. The district administrations have also been directed to ensure the availability of small and large machinery to deal with any emergency in advance.

In case of strong winds, people should stay away from power lines.
