LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge dismissed post arrest bail of accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ijaz Chaudhry in a case registered against him in response to May 9 riots occurred after the arrest of PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan.

Sarwar Road police had lodged an FIR against accused Ijaz Ch over his alleged involvement in creating law and order, chaos and arson outside Rahat Bakery on May 9.

The accused counsel had argued that his client has nothing to do with these charges and implicated in forged case merely to humiliate him.

He argued that no substantial evidence is available to establish in any way the nexus of the accused with the occurrence.

He requested the court to allow the bail to the accused petitioner.

However, the prosecution strongly opposed the bail plea arguing that there were concrete evidences available which establish the involvement of the accused with the occurrence so the bail plea of the accused be dismissed.

After hearing detailed, arguments, the ATC Judge dismissed the bail plea.

Meanwhile, another ATC judge, giving last opportunity to the Investigation Officer (IO), observed that the pre-arrest bails of PTI’s leader Hafiz Farhat Abbas and former PTI leader Fawad Ch will be
decided in accordance with law if investigation was not completed by next date.

The ATC judge directed the IO of the case to come up after completing the investigation by next date.

However, the judge extended the bails of the accused persons by August 7 in an FIR registered against them for creating law and order, chaos and arson outside Rahat Bakery on May 9 after the arrest of PTI’s founding chairman Imran Khan. Sarwar Road police had registered the FIR.
