Shiloh Jolie-Pitt moves forward with legal name change, dropping "Pitt"

She has published a notice in The Los Angeles Times, as required by California law, following her filing in May.

Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has reportedly published a legal notice in The Los Angeles Times announcing her intention to officially change her name to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. This move follows California law, which requires a month-long public notice before a judge can approve a name change petition.

Shiloh's decision to drop her father's last name is reportedly connected to past allegations of abuse by Brad Pitt against Angelina Jolie and their children. The teen reportedly hired her own lawyer and paid for the legal process herself.

This is not the first instance of Jolie-Pitt children distancing themselves from their father's surname. Zahara, Shiloh's older sister, and Vivienne, her younger sister, have also publicly used variations of their names that omit "Pitt."

Brad Pitt is reportedly "devastated" by Shiloh's decision, viewing it as a symbol of a growing estrangement between him and his children. Despite this, sources say to Us Weekly he is not ready to give up on repairing their relationship.

A hearing for Shiloh's name change is scheduled for July 29th.
