Fandango co-founder J. Michael Cline dies at NYC hotel

J. Michael Cline, the co-founder of Fandango, has died in an apparent suicide at a luxury hotel in midtown Manhattan. The 64-year-old was found with injuries indicating he fell from the 20th floor of The Kimberly Hotel on Tuesday morning.

Cline founded Fandango in 1999 and served as its CEO until 2011, when the company was acquired by NBCUniversal. He went on to found several other companies, including Accretive, a private equity firm, and Juxtapose, a venture fund.

Cline was also a philanthropist and served as chairman of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. In 2020, he wrote about the importance of conservation efforts in an article for the foundation.

Cline is survived by his wife and six children. He received his bachelor's degree from Cornell University and his MBA from Harvard Business School.

The New York Police Department is investigating the incident, and the cause of death has not been officially determined.
