KARACHI:

No significant progress could be made in the investigation of the bodies of a woman and her two children found in a sewer in Sher Mohammad Village, Mauripur.

On June 29, the bodies of 25-year-old Ruqaiya and her two children, 6-year-old Fatima and one-and-a-half-year-old Adnan, were found in a sewer in Sher Mohammad Village within the limits of Mauripur police station. Police had registered a complaint against the unknown accused on the complaint of the deceased woman's husband Mohammad Irfan and started the investigation.

DIG South Syed Asad Raza also took notice of the incident and formed a team to investigate the incident. However, no progress has been made in the case so far.

On the other hand, the probe team has widened the scope of the investigation by recording statements of family members and people living within 100 meters around the crime scene.

Investigation officials said that the CDRs of several suspects in KPK were checked by the investigation team. The team has not found any evidence of sexual abuse of women or physical assault on children in the forensic report and the cause of death of the deceased has not been determined so far.

However, the first medico-legal report had found evidence of rape of the woman, on which the heirs had expressed reservations and demandeda another medico-legal report of the deceased woman and children. The report is yet to come.

The investigation team is also focusing on the fact that the death of the lady and her children was not an accident.
