Muharram processions draw thousands of mourners
The main procession of Muharram 9 in Lahore began from Pando Street, Islampura and followed its traditional route to Khamiya Sadaat.
Thousands of mourners, including women and children, participated in the procession to honor the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala.
On this day, a total of 79 large and small processions of the Shabiha Zul-Jinnah and 734 congregations were held across Lahore. Participants reflected on the suffering and philosophy of martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, who gave their lives in the name of Allah to keep Islam alive.
The main procession, which started from Imambargah Pando Street at 10 am, saw mourners paying homage by beating their chests and shedding tears for the martyrs of Karbala.
The procession featured the Zul-Jinnah, Alam, and the cradle of Ali Asghar for devotees to visit and pay their respects.
Throughout the procession, sabeels offering sharbat and milk were set up along the route, while Niaz was distributed at various points, organized by both the mourners and the Punjab government.
