Timothée Chalamet, known for his role in the Dune franchise, is close to finalizing a deal to both produce and star in Marty Supreme, a new film by Josh Safdie for A24, as confirmed by Deadline.

While specific plot details are being kept confidential, Marty Supreme is said to draw loose inspiration from Marty Reisman, a renowned professional ping pong player. The script was written by Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie, with production handled by Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, and A24.

Marty Reisman, a legendary figure in American table tennis known for his flamboyant style and exceptional skill, began his career at a young age and achieved prominence by winning numerous national and international championships. His playing technique, characterized by innovative spins and unique forehand and backhand maneuvers, was particularly deceptive and confounding to opponents.

Beyond his achievements on the table, Marty Reisman played a crucial role in promoting and popularizing table tennis in the United States, contributing significantly to the sport's growth.

Timothée Chalamet's recent projects include reprising his role in Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two and starring in the musical hit Wonka. He has also completed filming for James Mangold's Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, opposite Elle Fanning.
