No progress has been made at the official level regarding the issue of three youths from Hyderabad who were trapped in forced-labour in Myanmar. No representative from the government or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted the affected families.
The families are disappointed by the lack of government response. Irfan Khan, the brother of Faraz Khan, one of the youths stuck in Myanmar, told The Express Tribune that until a few days ago, Faraz used to contact him on WhatsApp from an unknown number every 24 hours, but this has ceased. Three days later, Faraz made a WhatsApp call to his brother, pleading to be brought home as soon as possible. Faraz also mentioned that the captors in Myanmar intend to sell him to someone else. He described their location as a factory surrounded by a wall where they are forced to sit at computers and trade; refusal results in torture.
MQM-P MPA Rashid Khan Advocate has written to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, urging him to save the lives of the three youths from his constituency who are victims of forced labour.
