Shannen Doherty finalizes divorce with Kurt Iswarienko one day before her passing

The couple signed their divorce papers the same day Doherty passed away

Actress Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed," settled her divorce with husband Kurt Iswarienko just a day before her death at the age of 53. The agreement, which included Doherty waiving spousal support, was signed by Doherty on July 12, 2024, while Iswarienko signed the papers on July 13, the same day Doherty passed away.

The court documents indicated that both parties had reached a mutual agreement on the dissolution of their marriage, opting for a "default or uncontested dissolution." This decision signified their resolution to finalize the divorce proceedings outside of court.

Doherty's publicist, Leslie Sloane, confirmed the tragic news of her passing on July 14, stating, "It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease."

Doherty had been battling cancer since her initial diagnosis in 2015 and had shared openly about her journey, including a period of remission followed by a recurrence in 2019, which she later revealed as metastatic stage 4 cancer.

 

The actress, who married Iswarienko in October 2011, had filed for divorce in April 2023 after 11 years of marriage. Despite the challenging legal proceedings leading up to her death, Doherty maintained her resolve and resilience, speaking candidly about her life and her fight against cancer on her podcast, "Let's Be Clear."

In the months preceding her passing, Doherty reflected on her life's purpose, "I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better."

Doherty's final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, including her dog, Bowie, as she peacefully passed away. Her family has requested privacy as they grieve this profound loss.

The news of her death has sparked an outpouring of condolences and tributes from fans and colleagues alike, honoring her legacy both as an actress and as a courageous fighter against cancer.
