Katy Perry faced relentless teasing tonight after she accidentally used the wrong flag while expressing her support for England in the Euro final.
The 39-year-old Teenage Dream singer was evidently thrilled before the final match as England faced Spain in Berlin. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), she declared that "football is coming home" and included a United Kingdom flag emoji.
However, fans were quick to notice the mistake, pointing out that it was England playing, not the UK. One user responded with crying laughing emojis.
"Katy, it's [England flag]. Quite sure that the rest of the UK won't be cheering for England."
While another sassily remarked, "Thanks sis next time try to use the correct flag."
A third wrote: "Yes but [England flag]."
It was a crucial evening for the England team, but they have a slew of celebrity supporters rallying behind them. Piers Morgan, who has often criticized Gareth Southgate's squad, traveled to Germany in his private jet with his two sons. He shared a photo before the match, Piers wrote, "Berlin-bound. #ItsComingHome." He went on to share a photo in the stadium, commenting: "Come on England… bring the bloody thing home!"
On his way inside, Piers ran into his ITV colleagues Ben Shephard and Chris Kamara. He posted a photo of the trio together, writing, "Met some fans on the way into the stadium.. who so happy to see me!"
