As per to Argentine journalist Juan Etchegoyen, Conmebol paid the Colombian artist an exorbitant sum to have her perform at halftime of the Copa America 2024 final.

"The money that Conmebol will invest in the final is bestial. We know that soccer generates that kind of money and it will end up coming back to you with what they will invoice, but it never ceases to surprise me," he said on Mitre Live.

Etchegoyen specified that Shakira will earn $2 million for a performance lasting just over five minutes, during which she will sing a medley of her greatest hits.
