Suspects demanded ransom to free victim

Bahawalpur police have arrested the kidnappers of a builder and robbers who had snatched Rs6 million from traders from Karachi in Sama Satta.

Addressing a news conference, Saddar Circle ASP Babar Ali said that a gang of kidnappers had kidnapped a renowned builder and businessman, Ahmad Aalam, for ransom. He said that by utilising modern technology, the police had apprehended the gang involved in kidnapping the builder.

The official said CCTV cameras had provided footage of a car that had been used to kidnap the builder. The kidnappers shifted the builder to a house and later parked the car in the parking stand of a hospital,he said, adding that the police teams got fingerprints and utilised geo-fencing to trace the suspects.

He said the police had also traced the phone used by kidnappers and arrested them. “Action is under way to traceand arrest the facilitator of the gang who had provided the car and phone to them,” he said.

Sharing the details of the other case, he said that a gang of bandits had snatched a sum of Rs6 million from traders of Karachi in Sama Satta. The victims had arrived in Bahawalpur to purchase cattle from a market.

“The police arrested the gang members and recovered the snatched money from their possession,” he added.

The police official said that suspects from Multan, Muzaffargarh and other areas used to arrive in Bahawalpur to commit robberies and other crimes and later fled from the area.
