BERLIN:

A man killed himself and two others in an attack on Sunday in a home in Lautlingen, a village in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, according to local police.

Two women were severely injured in the attack, which was first reported by the newspaper Bild. The suspected shooter was also among the dead, a police spokesman at the scene said.

During a large-scale operation, police officers found the two seriously injured women, who were then taken to the hospital. Local police stated on X, formerly Twitter, that there is currently no danger to the public.

Investigators believe it was a crime within the family, as there is no evidence of a rampage. Police could not immediately clarify how the victims were related or provide details about the shooter and the firearm used.

According to the mass circulation Bild daily, the suspected perpetrator is said to be a hunter.

Dozens of emergency vehicles and two rescue helicopters were deployed to the scene of the incident, and the area has been cordoned off.

The town of Albstadt-Lautlingen lies some 60 kilometers south of Stuttgart in the Swabian Jura mountains.
