Terrorists on Saturday kidnapped a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier on leave in the Tank district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Another FC soldier was gunned down outside his home in the DI Khan district.
Local residents told The Express Tribune that FC soldier Saddam Hussain was abducted at gunpoint while on his way home in Tank. In response, local residents quickly organized a ‘chagha party’ and, together with the police, pursued and rescued the hostage from his kidnappers.
Police said that Saddam was abducted by a local militant group from the Pai area.
An announcement was made in the area via loudspeakers after receiving news of the abduction, prompting the heavily armed chagha party and police to chase the kidnappers, ultimately forcing them to release Saddam.
It may be mentioned that the whereabouts of three FC personnel abducted five days ago are still unknown.
In a separate incident in DI Khan, another FC soldier on leave was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside his residence. FC official Najibullah, son of Samiullah, of the Gandapur clan, was killed on Hathala Kalachi Road, within the jurisdiction of Hathala police station.
FC soldiers have been frequently targeted in the DI Khan, Tank, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat districts of the province recently.
Two days ago, in Janni Khel, Bannu, unidentified terrorists killed two FC personnel.
The law and order situation in the Bannu district has been continuously deteriorating.
Unidentified armed men opened fire and killed two FC men in the Jani Khel area of Bannu district before escaping. Police said that both personnel were on leave.
The deceased were identified as Suleman and Akhtar Ali. Police confirmed that this was a clear case of terrorism, as there were no personal feuds involving the victims.
